Today at Bookster Reviews, a guest post detailing my dream movie cast for Seraphina. Thanks for hosting, Cliona!
Of all the interview questions and guest posts I’ve done, this was the most challenging. I honestly hadn’t thought about this pressing issue very much! I imagine you readers are going to have differing opinions on this, and I’d love to hear them. Avid moviegoers will surely have better insight into the question than I do. So what do you think? Tell me where I picked wrong! Nothing’s set in stone.
Well, except for William Shatner, ha ha. I can broach no compromise there.
OH! Linda Hunt! She’s perfect.
She was one of the easy ones to cast!
I think most of my immediate thoughts are too old on further reflection. E.g. Alan Rickman or Rene Auberjonois as Orma. Robbie Coltrane as Viridius. I don’t watch as much TV or see as many movies as I used to. Maybe Scott Cohen as Orma?
Seraphina probably needs to be an unknown… I’d rather have an actual teenager than someone in her mid-twenties playing sixteen.
I agree about an unknown playing Seraphina — and it wouldn’t be a bad idea for Kiggs and Glisselda too — but I didn’t think I could get away with suggesting that more than once.
Hugh Laurie as Orma would be BRILLIANT. If he can pull of Mr. Palmer in the Emma Thompson version of Sense & Sensibility, he can be Orma.
And Linda Hunt is brilliant in everything.
