OMG!

Seraphina Sequel plot outline is GO! I get to start writing!

It’s… it’s kind of shocking how excited I am about this. I suppose it’s a good thing that I like to write, eh?

Working title is Dracomachia. That could change, of course.

  1. Well, I tore through Seraphina yesterday, so I’m simultaneously thrilled there’s a sequel, and sad that it’s not out until next year.

    But still. Hooray!

  2. Hm. Had login issues, and I think it may have eaten my post?

Either way, I’m thrilled there’s a sequel, because I tore through Seraphina in a day. I’m just sad it’s not out *yet* (but I have never been patient.)

  3. I am completely obsessed with Dragons and I collect books about and related to dragons and furiously read them, and If I like them, they make my bookshelf. If I LOVE them however they sit on my bed-head held together between my magnificent dragon bookends.
Seraphina is currently sitting between the greats ‘Inheritance’ by Paolini and ‘The Hobbit’ By Tolkien and is due to be read for the 5th time since I bought it 8 months ago.
I’d like to let you know that I completely adore your take on dragons and the universe you have conjured with it. I am eagerly awaiting the next installment/s. ๐Ÿ˜€

P.S. If they decide to make a film out of the books, don’t let them ruin the plot like they did in many of my other favourite novels. It was heartbreaking on all occasions.

    • Aw, Tara, thanks so much. I am honoured, truly. Regarding films, though: alas, I think authors get very little say, in general, or you wouldn’t see quite as many books being mangled on the big screen. I’ll see what I can do, if it comes to that, but I suspect you have to be JK Rowling big before they’ll listen to you.

      • They always have to ask your permission though don’t they? Because of copyright? You can always do what she did and say no unless you get a say in it. They will either say yes, or can the idea, and then eventually someone will pick it up.
You are the genius behind the unique universe, nobody can alter it if you don’t let them. ๐Ÿ™‚

      • I would rather a book stay only a book and not made a mess of as a movie… it can just kill the story for people that have not read the book.

  4. When i found out there was a sequel:
    me:OOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
    *happy dance*
When i found out it was going to be out in 2013:
    me: why!!!????why!!!????? whyyyyy meeeeeeeee!??????
    SO EXITED โค

  5. I’m like Sonya so excited for the sequel but so sad to wait for it ๐Ÿ˜ฅ I WANT TO READ IT NOW!!!!! jaja I don’t know if in my country will arrive soon I hope it does……. Anyway, Thank you Rachel for such a great book, I hope to read Seraphina’s next adventures soon and all the books you write

  6. Yes, I too want to read it now. Is there an update on the release date? It’s driving me crazy. That’s why I’m the type to do binge viewing and binge reading. It drives me up a wall having to wait a week for the next episode of a TV series. It’s much worse with books for obvious reasons. Knowing the release dates helps ease the pain.

    • I’m afraid we’re looking at Spring 2014, yes. I’ve heard April bandied about, but I’m sure that’s not fixed in stone. Sorry about that, but I write slowly I’m afraid, and my editor and I are a matched pair of perfectionists. I think in the end, though, good has to trump quick. We’re trying to make the book as excellent as we can.

      • Well, I think the wait will be worth it,if you’re trying to make an excellent book. So, looking foward to 2014 and Seraphina!!!!!!!!

  7. I am so excited about Dracomachia! I can’t wait for it to come out ๐Ÿ™‚
I tried to post this elsewhere, so apologies if it’s a repeat comment, but I just read Seraphina and adored it. I loved your inventive take on dragons, the philosophical additions, and the well-rounded and interesting characters. I hope to see more of Orma – I love their relationship – and also of Kiggs! As others have said, their romance is very refreshing and I hope the engagement won’t be TOO problematic.
Keep up the good work ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. Dracomachia will be great! I was a little shocked at how you left the end of the book, because it makes it all the more painful to wait. Hope to be on the scene well enough that I can grab a copy of it when it comes out.

  9. I just finished reading Seraphina and I must say it is one of the best books I’ve read in a while. You filed your world with such detail and energy that I could feel the life of the city. The depth of emotion you put into your characters, even the “emotionless” dragons, provided a terrific connection with each of them. Another thing I found quite interesting was your method of endlessly looping music in order to assist in your writing process, I too find it useful although in another way, I use it more for the reading of terrific literature rather than the creation of it. I eagerly await the sequel to this terrific story, and as much as i would love for it to come out soon, I am content to wait if it means another book of such quality. I’m happy to find another author to read that puts such passion into their work. -May your mind dance upon the clouds of creation and your quill never run dry.
